Introduction to Esports and Team Formation
Students will engage in team-building activities, draft a sportsmanship contract, and collaboratively create a brand, complete with a team name, colors, and logo. Emphasizing healthy habits like stretching and mindfulness prepares them for gaming sessions, which include casual play and tutorials to kickstart skill-building in a fun and relaxed way.
Minecraft
Dive into a world of creativity with Minecraft! Students will customize their persona with relevant skins, build team brands, and design esports jerseys and unique bases. Afterwards, they will explore 3D modeling and printing by exporting their Minecraft creations for trophies, logos, or nameplates. With engaging activities like build battles, arena games, and parkour museum competitions, students learn design, teamwork, and innovation—all while having fun.
Rocket League
Students will begin with Rocket League tutorials and casual games to practice core mechanics, building a strong foundation in gameplay. They will analyze professional matches, explore various in-game modes, and participate in real-life activities to enhance teamwork and strategic thinking. As skills progress, students will engage in team scrimmages and dedicate time to personal practice to refine their techniques. They will develop advanced strategies and compete in a multi-day tournament bracket, testing their teamwork and gameplay under competitive conditions while fostering collaboration and resilience.
Esports Game Design
This portion of the program empowers students to go beyond playing—by stepping into the role of game designer. Through hands-on, collaborative modules, students learn how games are structured, balanced, and brought to life. Along the way, they develop critical thinking, teamwork, and digital storytelling skills—all while having a blast.
Final Tournament Community Event
Students will focus on the logistical aspects of event planning, including creating flyers, finalizing schedules, and managing budgets. This week emphasizes teamwork and attention to detail in preparation for the final tournament event.

Julie's tailored approach aligns elective and CTE esports content with each district’s desired student outcomes and specific program goals, creating personalized and engaging materials that prioritize health, wellness, and enhanced student engagement.
