Introduction to Esports
Students kick off the program by forming teams, collaborating on a shared identity that includes a name, logo, and team colors. They participate in team-building challenges and work together to create a sportsmanship contract that sets the tone for a respectful, inclusive environment. To help students develop healthy habits, we incorporate stretching, mindfulness, and intentional breaks—preparing them physically and mentally for intentional gaming sessions.
Games We Offer
We offer a selection of competitive, family-friendly games including Minecraft, Rocket League, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These titles serve as fun and accessible entry points for students who may be new to competitive gaming. Each game comes with a dedicated curriculum that guides players from beginner basics to advanced strategies, helping them understand what it takes to practice, improve, and compete like a pro.
Program Goals
We believe that when used with purpose, gaming can be a powerful tool for developing the essential soft skills needed to thrive in any career. Through competitive, team-based play, students practice communication, strategic thinking, adaptability, and leadership. Along the way, they’re also introduced to the broader gaming ecosystem, exploring potential career paths in fields like game design, media broadcasting, and professional play.
Final Tournament
Every game culminates in a Final Tournament, a day where students put their skills to the test and showcase everything they’ve learned. It’s a chance to experience the thrill and intensity of real competition in a supportive, high-energy environment. What makes this event truly special is that students help design it themselves. From format to presentation, they shape the tournament experience, making it more meaningful, memorable, and uniquely theirs.
Community Engagement
Esports is about more than just gameplay, it’s about connection. Throughout the program, we invite families, school staff, and community members to rally behind the students as they compete. Whether they’re watching a match, offering words of encouragement, or simply showing up, their presence helps students feel seen and supported. One of the defining features of esports, compared to casual gaming, is the power of a crowd—having someone cheer you on can make all the difference. By involving the broader community, we help transform each student’s experience from something personal into something shared.
